We’ve all seen them. People who, when you are in their presence, drain your energy. Jack Canfield, co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, calls them “Energy vampires.”
These are the people who, no matter what, choose to focus on the negative in any situation. They’re always finding fault with the company, their co-workers or whatever is going on in their lives. They will drag you down, even if you’re having a great day. These are the people who never have anything good to say about anyone or anything, themselves included.
They are the people who, without being asked, will tell you why your great idea for a new business venture will never work and why you’ll wind up just losing all your money.
They’ll tell you why you are not qualified for a promotion and what’s wrong with your boss. They usually spend a lot of time engaged in gossip and are rarely happy. While you may be saddened seeing people living their lives at such a low level of enjoyment, for your own wellbeing, avoid them at all cost.
Minimize your interaction with these people or they will surely suck the energy and enthusiasm from you.

“Toxic people.” I like that. First time I’ve heard it put this way. I write on con men all the time. Hope you don’t mind if I borrow this description. It fits perfectly.

Such people exist indeed. You defined them well. Thank you. However, can we help them? Can it be that it would be impossible to fire a smile on their faces too?! It is easy to shift away from them, but how can we help them?

Hi Tomas, if you intend to help them, it must be from the bottom of your heart, because dealing with such people will suck all your energy away, ie. by end of the day, you felt tired. Without full commitment and determination, you will give up yourself.
