For those who are keen in looking out for new opportunities out there as well as those who are currently at the look out, you might want to stop and take a look at how you can use this golden compass rule to find your dream job.

Often, your dream job is not advertised in your local newspaper, and those that are will trigger a flood of resume, putting you in a stiff competition against thousands of other candidates.

Golden Compass rule to job searching

Instead, you should try cracking the hidden job markets by one of the following two ways:-

1. Apply directly to a company that suits you. This is so obvious that few people do this. Which mean s you will have far less competition, and highest chances

Simply identify five to six companies that you like to work for (I don’t mean to encourage you to work for others), call each of them to get the name and mailing address of the person who hires people like you

Spend an afternoon researching these firms on the Internet (I don’t think this is any problem to you). You want to familiar yourself with each company’s products, markets and competitors. Most importantly, try to come up with at least one suggestion for how you target companies can increase revenue or solve a problem

Next, send out a personalized letter and resume to each employer, and don’t forget to follow up with another letter or an e-mail if you don’t hear from them in 10 to 15 days.

2.  Use your personal network, this method is often the most effective and under utilized method too.

Tell everyone you know you are looking for a job. Call every friend, relatives. If each person can’t help you, ask them if they know someone else who can. Your network will some become massive. Eventually, someone should be able to put you in touch with a decision maker who can hire you.

Even former employers or colleagues can help, if you parted on good relationship with your last boss or colleagues, he or she might able to refer you to hiring managers in another companies.
