We are in an era of knowledge abundance. Traditional management theory focuses on knowledge scarcity. We need new management strategies to deal with so much communication and so much knowledge.

Traditionally, people said knowledge is power but, if that were the case, academics would rule the world. Knowledge in itself is not power; rather the application of knowledge is where power lies. What does this mean?
Many schools and universities have fail to recognize that the traditional teaching techniques have fail to teach us how we can translate the knowledge we acquired during our school and university time into action plans and link to the desire goals and dreams.
You can pick up knowledge easily in our society, especially with the aid of media such as TV, radio, newspaper, and most powerful internet. But knowledge is knowledge, it will only create some sort of power when we process it, ie. organize, define and create a series of action plans which direct to a definite goals or objectives.
The most prominent example I would give is iPod, invented by Apple. Steve Jobs did not create mp3 player, someone did. But what Steve Jobs did was to put his knowledge and thoughts together to form a series of action plans, which has created a whole new world for iPod today. Another good example is Starbucks. Making good coffee is no secret to everyone, but Mr. Schultz was able to incorporate his knowledge, thoughts and ideas actions and created the new ways on how we drink coffee today.
To achieve your gaols, start apply the knowledge you acquired and put into action plans today.
