There are many methods and techniques how we affirm. Some people suggest writing affirmations over and over and over or taping it yourself listening to them. Frankly that’s all might be too much for some of you. I would suggest few simpler ways:-
- Write them on post-its and put them on the fridge, bathroom mirror, or next to bed - somewhere we see periodically but not for extended periods, that serve as a reminder. When we see it, we take a deep breath and say the affirmation inside or out loud. Important points are we must bring up the feelings that connect to that affirmation: happy, confident, safety, well-being and we must also tap our heart when we say this, as that helps it get into your body.
- Put a notebook next to your bed and at night before you go to bed, spend some time to write down new ones. You can either writing the same one over and over or make up new ones.
- Find one great affirmation that work for you and memorize it. There is one affirmation, that is the most powerful affirmation that I’ve ever worked with , “I have the power to change the ways I live my life, and the power is with me now”. It reminds me that I am the power to my life, and I can change my life now.
- To be open with you, my mind do switch off sometimes. So what I do to overcome this is by self-hypnotize, I am not a big fan of self-hypnosis, but this work well for me. If you are not sure what self-hypnosis is. Find out more in the following links.

- Use of affirmation software. For those who are very determined and committed to continuous work on this technique. I suggest you get yourself a affirmation software. There is not many out there and I find this Sculptor 3 is effective.
All the above techniques worked for Sondra Ray and other people who write and developed these. (At least for me.) It can be a powerful way to bring up your counter-intention (all the negative beliefs you have, which you can then make new affirmations to counter-act). So start this NOW.
